Penny graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1981 with a degree in Commercial Recreation. Her love of travel inspired her studies that led to a position as a Trek Leader for a tour operator in Hawaii. She was responsible for the safety and welfare of adventure travellers on 14 to 18 day hiking and camping expeditions in rugged, inaccessible areas of the Hawaiian Islands.
When not leading a Trek, she found herself developing marketing and communication materials for the companies who employed her. The handwriting was on the wall. In 1986, she enrolled at UCLA, studying Visual Arts. Following these intense studies, she continued her education at the American Film Institute, also in Los Angeles.
She continuously takes courses to stay current with all the latest software. She has worked at major advertising agencies, various entertainment and design firms, Bon Appetit Magazine, the National Football League, and the LA Times. Later, she moved to Dana Point, California in 1999.
Penny's affection for world travel and her close relationship to nature have always had a profound impact on her visual design. Today, she continues to employ nature's influence and nuance with a cinematic flare to her design solutions.

Thanks Penny,
"Penny designed and created the first REAL logo for my business. She took my ideas, spun some concepts off of the them and sent me several comps to review. When we decided on the final, I had all the files in a week. She is fast, creative and resourceful. I would recommend her to anyone who needs quality graphic work."

To whom ever it may concern,
My name is Ella Croney, I am a Feng Shui consultant in both Orange County and Los Angeles. A year ago I had an idea to create a basic feng shui DVD for my clients so i pulled together a Production crew and voila the DVD production, Sacred Feng Shui was completed. My wonderful son an Artist on his computer helped me put together a rough draft of how I wanted the cover to look. I contacted Diana Hull from Best DVD to assist me with duplications and she introduced me to Penny Welton.
Penny listened intently with the idea's that Diana and I had for my DVD and within a week or so Penny had put together not only something wonderful for my cover but also a wonder image of the Ba-gau on my DVD disk inself. I was impressed beyond my wildest dreams. Penny's work took my son's original rough draft and created a package that was marketable so instead of just giving this to my clients I've had many people to buy it outright for their first introduction to the word of Feng Shui.
I am in the process of completing my first book and will use Penny's services to help me create a cover. I am grateful to know her and i absolutely adore her as a business woman and now I have a new friend. Anyone and everyone that chooses to work with Penny will be pleased. The work she does out of Orange County would be three times more in Los Angeles.
Feel free to contact me for any information regarding my wonderful experience with Penny.

I want to personally express how excited I am with Penny's work for my web page. Being a photographer, Penny asked me to choose photos to display my work. Penny put together a great web page in a very timely manner. I found her attention to detail and style outstanding. Her selection of the format, design and color are exquisite. It is a pleasure to work with Penny.

What is Graphic Design?
Graphic Design is visual communication as well as visual problem solving. It is the process and art of combining text and/or graphical elements to communicate an effective message in the design of logos, advertising, brochures, flyers, postcards, newsletters, posters, signs, web pages, labels, inserts and the list goes on. Designing is much like writing a story. I take abstract ideas or thoughts and turn them into a tangible object or visual tools. It can be like solving a puzzle. It can be a challenge, which I thrive on.
Currently, professional graphic design involves the utilization of the latest computer software to turn an idea into a tangible image. My advanced tools are Adobe Photoshop (to manipulate images and to scan), Adobe Illustrator (to draw and created vector art), web-authoring tools, such as Flash (to create animated movies), Dreamweaver, and Fireworks, Quarxpress (desktop publishing - to layout brochures, postcards, flyers, newsletters, Ads, and collateral pieces such as door hangers, labels, DVD and CD box covers), Adobe Acrobat (to create PDFs for proofs) and Fetch or FTP (to upload and download big or multiple files, HTML and etc.)
Graphic images such as photos, illustrations, or vector art are a great addition to any piece whether printed or web based. So are color, font style and paper. All these important aspects of graphic design can measurably increase reader comprehension, retention, and interest as well as greatly enhance organizational structure and improve the overall appearance.
Powerful graphic design must capture a person’s attention. It must give your product or service visibility, exposure and a chance to get known and remembered. Further, it must communicate clear reasons why an existing or prospective customer should buy your product or service.
With your input, I will visualize and create your marketing pieces that will help you reach your target audience and, therefore, increase your sales.
